Over 16 Years of Success at Southside Café

We are fortunate to live in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. As such, thousands migrate to our mountains to share our abundance. Asheville has become a tourist destination point for fine dining restaurants, and the most outstanding among them all is Southside Cafe. For 16 years, the family-owned and operated Southside Café remains the favored unpretentious, fine-dining restaurant in South Asheville. This dynamic father, son team, Lance Carter and John Redden have decided to celebrate Southside Café’s fifteen years of success all year with some wonderful surprises in store for everyone! A Family Affair

In September of 1990, a dream came true for Lance and Linda Carter, whose passion for hospitality, good food and wine, opened the doors of the new Southside Café. This was a family affair as they and their three children all worked together, painting, papering and furnishing their new café.

 

Chef de Cuisine, John Redden

Linda and Lance Carter’s son, Chef de Cuisine, John Redden returned to Southside Café after Chef de Cuisine, John Reddenattending the California Culinary Academy. John Redden, Chef de Cuisine, has implemented his cutting edge techniques of food preparation, introducing New American Cuisine with a Southern flair. John’s philosophy is “It’s not what you cook, but how you prepare the food to perfection.” His cutting edge techniques have been a huge success for Southside Café fans who are now visiting more often.

 

The Sidewalk Café

The sidewalk café is open in the Spring, Summer and Fall for your dining pleasure where many Southside Fans enjoy bringing their dogs to share a sunny luncheon or dinner together. Drop by and check out our delicious menus, enjoy a fantastic meal, and meet Chef John Redden.
